BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are one of the most frequent procedures we perform at FACESplusTM Skin and Laser Center. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are a highly diluted derivative of Botulinum Toxin Type A, which relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkling by blocking the release of acetylcholine, the chemical that causes muscles to contract. Although F.D.A. approved in 2002, Plastic surgeons and dermatologists have been using BOTOX® Cosmetic to treat facial wrinkles such as crow's feet and frown lines for 10 years.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is extremely specific in how it reacts to block the release of acetylcholine and, as a result, only the muscles we inject are relaxed. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections typically last from 3-6 months. The rare side effects of getting a BOTOX® Cosmetic injection, such as a droopy eye, are only temporary.
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are a great way to reduce your facial wrinkles. With continued use of BOTOX® Cosmetic your wrinkles may actually lessen and may disappear for prolonged periods of time. become less and less noticable and frequently disappear for prolonged periods of time. Most people come in 2-3 times per year for BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.
BOTOX® Injection for sweating (Hyperhydrosis)
BOTOX® can dramatically reduce excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis). If injected under the arms, it can often reduce sweating completely. People usually request re-injecting 6 - 9 months later, even though only some of the sweating has returned.
BOTOX® Injection for Migraine Headaches
Clinical studies performed by leading Plastic surgeons have demonstrated that BOTOX® is extremely effective in treating migraine and tension headaches. The duration of action of BOTOX® migraine prevention varies from about 10 to 13 weeks. Like other migraine preventives, the onset of effect may take a few weeks.
