FRAXELTM re:pair — A new Fractional CO2 laser by Reliant
Dr. Steven Cohen and Cory Henssler RN, Nurse Director of FACESplus Laser Center were one of the earliest Plastic Surgery groups in the United States to use the Fraxel laser. They teach a course on Fractional Photothermolysis at the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and have published their work in the Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Journal.
Recently, Reliant Technologies announced the world premiere of the FRAXEL re:pair CO2 laser. The Re:pair laser is in a new class of lasers that deliver carbon dioxide laser light through a device that fractionates or breaks the laser into millions of tiny pixels that penetrate the skin. Because normal skin is spared between the pixels of laser injury, healing is more rapid and safety is markedly improved without compromising results.
"The new FRAXEL re:pair is one of the biggest advances in laser technology in a decade. The results we are seeing with the FRAXEL re:pair are beginning to approach the results we see with eyelid surgery and facelift in properly selected patients" says Dr. Steven R. Cohen, Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, San Diego and Medical Director of Facesplus Plastic Surgery, Skin and Laser Center.
According to leading dermatologists and plastic surgeons, the new FRAXEL re:pair treats 3 critical components of skin aging: elasticity, pigmentation and wrinkles. Because tissue is actually vaporized, contraction of these millions of microscopic wounds leads to shrinkage of skin surface with true tightening of tissues.
"The new Fraxel Re:pair represents the beginning of a major breakthrough in non-surgical cosmetic treatment. With the power of a CO2 laser and the safety of the Fraxel technology, we are seeing near surgical results in some patients. The Re:pair combined with better Thermage-type treatments and longer lasting fillers may become the non-surgical facelift of tomorrow," according to Dr. Steven Cohen.
Dr. Steven R. Cohen along with Cory Henssler, R.N., laser nurse specialist and Director of the Laser Program at FACESplus, teach the course on Fractional Photothermolysis at the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and are recognized experts in the field.
