Your Comprehensive Guide to Facelift Surgery.

A facelift seems like an intimidating procedure.  Depictions of facelifts in the media are often categorized by only bad results. However, as Dr. Cohen says:

“The point of a facelift is that no one should know you ever had one.”

That is why the good ones go unnoticed. A rejuvenated appearance is often credited to a celebrity saying they are drinking more water these days. We’re looking at you, Cindy Crawford. We are going to dive into the process of the facelift journey at Faces+ and unveil the secret to our patient’s fountain of youth.

The Factors That Contribute To Aging

These are just a few of the key factors that affect aging.

  1. Sun damage
  2. Volume Loss
  3. Skin Laxity

We evaluate these three factors to assess how a patient is aging. Then determine from facial expression, genetics, and environmental factors how your slope of aging generates over time.

Meeting with Dr. Cohen

The first step in the process of getting a facelift surgery is the consultation with Dr. Cohen. At our office, consultations are a mix of facial examination, education, and Q&A. They are designed to last about an hour so you are equipped with all the knowledge you need to make an informed decision about the surgery.

Picking Your Perfect Facelift.

Dr. Cohen is familiar with all of the current types of facelifts and applies the correct one for your specific problems, not just the only one he knows how to do.

A mini facelift is considered when the neck does not need fixing. Candidates for this procedure are those who come in at a younger age or patients with less skin laxity.

Facelift vs. Mini Facelift

You may need additional treatments to address specific issues. Here are a few options that can complement a facelift or mini-facelift surgery:

  • Necklift
  • Smasectomy
  • Injectable Facial Rejuvenation
  • Browlift
  • Facial Implants
  • Chin Augmentation
  • Treatment of Nasal Aging
    • (Developed by Dr.Cohen and exclusive at Faces+).
  • Upper & Lower Eyelid Surgery
  • Marionette Lift, (minimally invasive browlift)

By having the full range of facelift techniques at his disposal, Dr. Cohen chooses the most effective approach for your individual concerns and features.

The Procedure.

All Facelifts are under general anesthetic. After a brief questionnaire about your health history & physical exam, you are cleared by our anesthesiologist for surgery as long as you’re healthy. The procedure takes a few hours depending on the complexity of the surgery and (since you’re in dreamland) it’s over before you know it.

The Aftercare.

At Faces+ we give skincare kits post-surgery to help with the healing process after the facelift. This kit features Alastin skincare products that are designed to strengthen and create collagen in the skin. Stitches by the ear from the facelift get removed after 5-10 days.  If you thought the recovery time is lengthy, think again. The majority of our patients go back to work in as little as three days after the surgery.
