Today is Saturday and I am getting ready to go to sleep. The day began with a 2 mile swim and then to the office to see 3 patients. One patient had a skin cancer removed, another had her eyelids done and the last had a breast lift and fat injection to the breast. Everyone was doing well. If I could put each patient into a black box and they came out with the result they want without any downtime, my life would be perfect. Unfortunately, I am like the catcher on the baseball team and must make the catch whether it is a fastball, curve, change up or stray ball. Each of us heals in the way our particular genetic makeup directs our wounds to heal no matter how lovely things look in the operating room. I hope we are doing a good job explaining the vagaries of our work and patients understand how much of a privilege it is to be entrusted with their care.
